Sigil Guide
Granblue Fantasy Relink sigil guide for Endless Ragnarok: must-have sigils (Damage Cap, War Elemental, Supplementary Damage), Transmutation, Curios, Sigil Synthesis, Overmastery, save-scum trick, and where to farm each sigil.
Quick answer: which sigils matter most
Three sigils define endgame builds in Granblue Fantasy: Relink: Damage Cap, War Elemental, and Supplementary Damage. Damage Cap raises the ceiling your hits can reach. War Elemental converts all your damage to exploit enemy elemental weakness. Supplementary Damage adds a separate bonus hit on top of your regular attacks. Everything else is filler until you have these three sorted.
The catch: War Elemental and Supplementary Damage can only come from Curios appraised by Zathba, and the drop rate is low. The long grind for these two sigils is the single biggest endgame time investment in the game.
The three must-have endgame sigils
Damage Cap
Damage Cap determines the maximum damage any single hit can deal. No matter how much attack you stack, a hit already at cap will not increase until you raise the cap itself. This is the foundation of every endgame build.
Detailed testing methodology and stat priority are covered in the Damage Cap Build Guide.
War Elemental
War Elemental converts all of your character's damage type to exploit the enemy's elemental weakness. This is why elemental weaknesses do not matter in the early game - by endgame, one sigil solves the problem for your entire kit. War Elemental dramatically increases sustained DPS.
Supplementary Damage
Supplementary Damage adds a chance for an extra hit on top of your regular attacks and skills. At high trait levels the chance reaches 100%, and the extra damage is calculated separately from the Damage Cap - making it one of the strongest damage sources in the game once your core build is stable.
Both War Elemental and Supplementary Damage have a tier 5+ version that combines two effects in one sigil slot. These are the best-in-slot goal for fully optimized builds.
How to tell if you are hitting Damage Cap
The game gives a visual cue: when a damage number glows faintly after appearing on screen, that hit is at the cap. If the number does not glow, you still have headroom and can add more attack, crit, or damage multipliers.
Use the training dummy on the Grand Cypher deck to test this. The dummy also has a Damage Cap percentage display you can enable - see the Damage Cap guide for the full testing method.
Siero's Transmutation (Knick-Knack Vouchers)
Siero's shop offers a Transmutation feature that trades Knick-Knack Vouchers for random sigils and wrightstones. This is one of the most efficient ways to stock high-tier sigils once you have a farming spot running.
How to feed the voucher economy:
- Farm Assault Formation at Extreme difficulty - it drops machine units and high-level scraps in bulk.
- Trade those materials at Siero's shop for Knick-Knack Vouchers.
- Spend 10 vouchers per transmutation roll for a random sigil orwrightstone.
- At Transmutation level 2, results can go as high as tier 4-5 sigils.
See the Farming Spots guide for the full Assault Formation loop.
Curios & Zathba appraisal
Curios are loot boxes that drop from quests. You do not open them directly - take them to Zathba for appraisal, which converts each Curio into random raw materials, sigils, or wrightstones.
Curios are the only source of War Elemental and Supplementary Damage sigils. They do not drop from quests directly, and they cannot be crafted. This makes Curio farming the long pole in endgame sigil optimization.
Late game, the Behemoth quest is the best spot to farm Curios that can yield War Elemental+ and Supplementary Damage 5+. Expect a long grind - drop rates are intentionally low.
Sigil Synthesis
Sigil Synthesis unlocks as you progress the story. Talk to Siero to access it. The feature combines two sigils into one, potentially creating a perfect sigil with two desirable effects in a single slot.
The most common use case is combining two Supplementary Damage sigils to get a single sigil with the same effect stacked - effectively doubling the bonus in one slot. The same approach works for other stackable effects.
Not every sigil can be synthesized. Character-specific sigils such as Warpath and Echo sigils have their own rules - check the synthesis UI for eligible pairs.
Save-scum trick for Transmarvels, Overmastery & Synthesis
The results of Transmarvels (the high-tier transmutation pulls), Overmastery rolls, and Sigil Synthesis are predetermined - but they change whenever you complete any quest. This means you can reroll unwanted results without spending more materials:
- Turn off auto-save in settings.
- Save your game manually.
- Use all your Transmarvel charges (or do an Overmastery roll, or a Synthesis).
- If you do not like the results, reload your save.
- Complete any short quest you can clear in seconds (for example, a low-difficulty boss you can one-shot).
- Save your game again, then use the feature once more. The results will be different.
This works on Transmarvels, Overmastery, and Sigil Synthesis. It does not affect Curio drops - those are tied to the quest itself, not the save state.
Overmastery: unlock at level 80
Overmastery unlocks when a character reaches level 80. It provides additional random stat bonuses on top of the regular mastery tree. The system is RNG-heavy, so it is easy to waste mastery points chasing better passives too early.
The correct order is:
- Max out the regular mastery skill tree to 100% first - especially the offensive and defensive trees. This gives new skills, better passives, and additional sigil slots with zero RNG.
- Then do a single Overmastery roll and accept whatever passives you get, even if they are not ideal.
- Only after everything else is maxed should you start fishing for better Overmastery passives.
Overmastery level 3 gives the best value of the three roll tiers. The endgame targets players aim for are roughly:
- Critical Rate Up close to 20%
- Normal Attack Damage Cap Up close to 20%
- Skill Damage Cap Up close to 20%
These are community-target heuristics, not hard caps - expect a long grind to get all three on one character. Use the save-scum trick to cut the grind significantly.
Where to farm each sigil
| Sigil | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Damage Cap | Multiple quests (see Damage Cap guide) | Foundational - farm first. |
| War Elemental | Curios only (Zathba appraisal) | Cannot drop from quests or be crafted. |
| War Elemental+ | Curios from Behemoth quest (late game) | Tier 5+ version, two effects in one slot. |
| Supplementary Damage | Curios only (Zathba appraisal) | Same Curio source as War Elemental. |
| Supplementary Damage 5+ | Curios from Behemoth quest (late game) | Best-in-slot version. |
| Random high-tier sigils | Siero's Transmutation (Knick-Knack Vouchers) | Fed by Assault Formation scraps. |
Common sigil mistakes
- Selling low-tier sigils and excess materials. Trade them for Knick-Knack Vouchers at Siero instead - the vouchers buy random high-tier sigils.
- Fishing for perfect Overmastery before maxing the mastery tree. The mastery tree gives guaranteed bonuses; Overmastery is RNG.
- Stacking attack on a build already at Damage Cap. The number will not increase. Raise the cap or add Supplementary Damage.
- Ignoring Sigil Synthesis. Two decent sigils can combine into a single slot with both effects, freeing space for survival or utility.
- Selling Glitter Crystals. These are meant to be sold for Rupees - that is their purpose - so this one is actually fine. Just do not sell sigils or upgrade materials.
FAQ
Can War Elemental or Supplementary Damage drop from quests?
No. Both come exclusively from Curios appraised by Zathba. This is intentional - they are the rarest sigils in the game.
What is the highest sigil tier?
Tier 5+ is the highest. These sigils carry two effects in a single slot, which is why they are the endgame goal.
Does the save-scum trick work on Curio drops?
No. Curio drops are tied to the quest itself and are not affected by reloading your save. The trick only works on Transmarvels, Overmastery, and Sigil Synthesis results.
When should I start Overmastery?
Only after maxing the regular mastery tree to 100%. Doing Overmastery first wastes mastery points on RNG rolls while guaranteed bonuses are still on the table.
